‘Wives can curb social ills like prostitution by being obedient and alluring’

Wives who “obey, serve and entertain” their husbands can help reduce social ills such as prostitution and domestic abuse, according to members of The Obedient Wives Club.

Of all the things Malaysians can come up with, this has got to be one of the most stupidly backward.
Arnold Swarchenagger, ladies and gentlemen. I doubt he cheated because his wife was not obediently adhering to his sexual needs, or because she wasn't hot enough. No, 's a matter of fact, the women he cheated on was a "dumpy housekeeper" (and I quote The Star 2). Research has proven that one of the larger factors of why men cheat on their spouses is, not because their wives are not provocative enough in bed, but because they want to "explore" unchartered teritory, to try something new. If that is the case, is  teaching wives to be more obedient really going to help curb the social ills of the male species? I don't thinkso, "Dr." Rohaya Mohamad. It will be an epic FAILURE.

Besides, more research has proven that other main reasons men cheat is because the wife isn't physically appealing anymore, it's all about control and winning over as many females as possible and that they cheat because they can. Now, no wife can change her physical appearance - unless she has the money to go for cosmetic surgery our get a million Botox shots. Maybe the OWC should be looking into getting women free dates with their cosmetic surgeons if they really want to stop men from commiting their numerous social ills. There isn't really anything they can do about the fact that men want to be alpha males and strut their masculine poweress by doing whatever they want to do - which includes sleeping with as many women as possible, even if they are married. (Considering that, if wives were really to obedient to their husbands, they would submit to his desire to cheat anyway.)

Now, on whether wives are supposed to be obedient to their husbands, I suppose that is a matter of religious perception, and so I will not argue against it. But if a wife does submit to her husband as an authoritative figure who should never be opposed - unless he does not comply to certain religious principles of which I do not know and so will not breach upon - we can assume that there is a male dominance in the household, which I am not saying is wrong. What would be wrong is if he starts abusing his wife - whether physically, emotionally or verbally - without any respect for her as a human being because he assumes himself as the alpha male who has no need to submit to any higher authority, much less God's word written it a book, no matter how revered it is.

Arguements on abuse, the rights of women and such are beside the point, although they are very substantive points that the OWC should look into. But the core of the issue is this - is the campaign the to turn all wives into submissive drones really going to curbsocial ills, as is the main objective of the campaign of the Obedient Wives Club? Considering that the top reasons why men cheat on their wives is competitiveness with other males, the desire to explore different women, the decreasing attractiveness of their spouses and just because they can? Teaching women how to have sex in a hundred and one ways and treat their husbands like the kings of the world is most definitely not addressing any of these issues. The only thing it's doing is degrading women.

And that is why I am proud to oppose.
